Imperial Wars is more than a computer game, much more than a strategy game and to describe it as a role-playing game is too limiting. It challenges players to create and manage empires like some of the great classic strategy games but also to develop characters and exercise diplomacy. Players will explore and discover an ever expanding and beautiful universe with powerful ancient artifacts and black holes and Imperial Worlds and more. But more importantly each Starlord will find other Starlords from the seven different character classes inhabiting the universe. The game space can become contentious and suspenseful. The developing stories created by these interactions can evoke honor, courage, fear, passion, defiance, and often long lasting relationships, well beyond the game. This is a game that will be re-played again and again. Each game has a life and tempo of its own as the tension mounts higher and the endgame approaches .

Episode turns can take from a day to a week, decided by how quickly players complete their moves. All throughout the game  players interact with other players in the game through in-game e-mail, messenger and their Universe forums; they trade game components and game information and declare diplomatic relationships in an immersive online environment.
